Every winter Surface Festival comes alive — bringing together artists of all forms from around the globe to transform the surfaces of Miami, Burleigh Heads, and Nobby's Beach on the sunny Gold Coast.
With 52 murals permanently on display across the precinct, Surface can be visited all year round. Pick up the mural map and take yourself on a self-guided walking or riding tour throughout the neighbourhood. Every year Surface produces an epic two-week program of large-scale mural paintings, outdoor exhibitions, gallery nights, live music gigs, kids events, and more.
Surface Festival is proudly produced by the creative team at Miami Marketta — established in 2011 by artists for artists, transforming a converted industrial laneway into one of the Gold Coast's most iconic creative gathering spaces — in association with Miami's thriving businesses and community of locals, with support from Gold Coast City Council.

Surface Festival acknowledges and pays respect to the Traditional Owners of the lands on which this festival takes place — the Yugambeh, Kombumerri, and Bundjalung people, past and present, for whom music and art making have held a central importance for thousands of generations. Construction notice — Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3: Works continue along the Gold Coast Highway between Miami and Burleigh Heads until mid-2026. Night works run Sunday evening through Friday morning. Guests can expect periods of noise, vibration and vehicle movements, particularly overnight. Road-facing rooms have double-glazed windows. Bus stop temporarily at Miami One (~300m from the motel). Remove this notice once works are complete and tram is operational.

From Gold Coast Airport: Take Route 777. The journey takes 25 minutes. 50 cents per trip with a Go Card.
From Brisbane Airport: Take the Airtrain to Robina, then Route 765 bus direct to the motel.

Christine Avenue Tram Station — Coming Mid-2026: Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 is nearing completion. The new Christine Avenue tram station will be at our front door — connecting the motel directly to the Gold Coast tram network with Routes 700, 765, and airport bus 777 all at our corner.
