Why Burleigh is the best place to stay on the Gold Coast
Surfers has the name. This end of the Coast has the beach, the village, and a 50-cent ride if you want the rest.
We are a family-run motel in Miami QLD, on the Gold Coast Highway at Christine Avenue — between Burleigh Heads (south) and Miami Beach (north). The sand 200m from our door is Burleigh North Beach, the north end of Burleigh Beach, not the headland. James Street, Justins Park and Burleigh Head National Park sit further south — Oceanway or two tram stops.

Burleigh North Beach and the headland
Golden sand, consistent waves, patrolled water, and fewer crowds than the beaches further north.
Walk straight down Sixth Avenue and you are on Burleigh North Beach — about a two-minute walk. North Burleigh SLSC and North Burleigh Lookout sit at this end. The lookout sits above the rocks with the Pacific in front, Surfers to the north and Coolangatta to the south. Unmissable at sunset, and free.
The headland loop is at the south end of the beach. About 30 minutes through coastal rainforest, ocean the whole way. Koalas in the figs if you look. Free to enter.

North Burleigh — the quieter end
Quieter than the village, more local, and close to the motel.
North Burleigh SLSC does breakfast with an ocean view and a cold beer at the end of the day. Granddad Jack's Craft Distillery — the Coast's first craft distillery — is near this end of the beach. Precinct Brewing Co is on Christine Avenue, in a repurposed industrial space.
James Street and Burleigh village
James Street is where Gold Coast chefs open their own places, and where locals eat. It is south of us, in Burleigh Heads village — two tram stops, or along the Oceanway. Do not treat it as a two-minute walk from the motel.
Paddock Bakery is 150m from us — wood-fired sourdough and all-day breakfast from 6am. Rick Shores is beachfront Asian fusion (book ahead). Justin Lane does rooftop pizza. Local Burleigh has a beer garden and lobster rolls. Burgster is the local burger favourite.

Miami — street art on our wall
Miami is our suburb. Quieter than the village, more creative, and the home of Surface Festival each July.
Our facade carries a mural by Justine McCallister, painted for Surface 2024 at 1910 Gold Coast Highway. More than 50 murals stay up across Miami, Burleigh and Nobby Beach, so the gallery is open year-round. Grab the map and walk the trail — you are staying next to one of the walls, not a half-hour drive from the precinct.
After dark, Miami Marketta runs Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights — street food, live music, a local crowd. Roji Cat Beer Bar on Lemana Lane is a Japanese laneway bar. The Miami Tavern is the local pub, with ocean views from the deck.

Getting around — no car needed
Beach, bakery, Aldi and the mural on our wall are on foot. For the rest of the Coast, the Christine Avenue stop is on our corner.
G:link and bus 765 — same corner stop. North to Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise, Southport and Helensvale (Airtrain change for Brisbane Airport). South to Second Avenue and Burleigh Heads.
Bus 700 — Miami One (~300m). Gold Coast Highway; south toward Currumbin and Coolangatta.
Route 777 — Gold Coast Airport only, from Miami One, about 25 minutes.
Fares — 50 cents with a go card or contactless tap on and off.
Leave the car in our lot (one permit per room, subject to availability) or do not hire one at all. The long version is getting around Burleigh without a car.
