Here's the thing about Easter accommodation Gold Coast searches: nearly everyone doing them needs a room for more than two people, and that's exactly the stock the whole Coast runs out of first. Doubles are easy. A room that sleeps five, or two rooms with a door between them and a bathroom each, is not. We've got 36 rooms on the Gold Coast Highway in Miami, the beach is 200m down Sixth Avenue, and a decent share of those rooms sleep four, five or six.
Easter accommodation Gold Coast — what the long weekend looks like here
Queensland gives you four public holidays over Easter, and in 2027 they land on Good Friday 26 March, Easter Saturday 27 March, Easter Sunday 28 March and Easter Monday 29 March.
The bit people miss is the overlap. Queensland state schools finish Term 1 on Thursday 25 March 2027, so the autumn school holidays start on Good Friday and run 17 days through to Sunday 11 April. Easter isn't a long weekend that ends — it's the front door of a fortnight. Families who can stretch a couple of extra days either side get a better rate and a much quieter beach in the second week.
Late March is also a good time to be in the water here. The ocean is still holding summer warmth, the humidity has dropped off, and you're past the worst of the afternoon storms.
Rooms that actually fit a family
Most budget motels on the Coast are really just doubles with a couple of triples bolted on. Here's what we've actually got, by how many people sleep in it:

The interconnecting pair is the one worth asking about first. Two bathrooms is the difference between a relaxed morning and a queue, and the connecting door means you can put the kids down and still talk at a normal volume. It's the room that goes earliest at Easter every year.
Every room has a private ensuite, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with free-to-air, a microwave, bar fridge and kettle, free Wi-Fi, fresh linen and towels, toiletries, a hair dryer and an iron. The outdoor pool is open all year and free for guests, and there's a coin laundry — which matters more than people expect after four days of sand.
Standard rates start at $125/night for a double, $165 for a triple, $185 for a quad, $195 for a family room and $295 for the interconnecting pair. A few things worth knowing before you book: there's no lift, so upper-floor rooms mean stairs and the ground floor is triples only, subject to availability. Children aged 6 and over are charged as adults, and we don't have cots or extra beds. No pets. Reception is open 9am–7:30pm — if you're rolling in late on Good Friday, call ahead and we'll sort after-hours check-in.
What's on around Burleigh and Miami
You don't need to book a single ticketed event to fill four days.
Burleigh beachfront markets run the last Sunday of the month, 8am–2pm, at Justins Park on The Esplanade between First and Third Avenues. In 2027 the last Sunday of March is Easter Sunday — 28 March — so it lands right in the middle of the weekend. It's south of us, along the Oceanway or two tram stops.
Miami Marketta does its street-food and live-music nights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, which is a straightforward way to feed a family without a restaurant bill.
The headland walk through Burleigh Head National Park is still the best free thing on the Coast — rainforest track, ocean on your right, and whales if you're here later in the year. Also south of us: Oceanway or the tram.
Closer in, Paddock Bakery is 150m away and worth the queue on a Saturday, and there's an Aldi across the road if you're feeding a carload. With a microwave and fridge in the room, breakfast and school-holiday snacks stop being a daily expense.
Where the money actually goes at Easter
Room rate is the number everyone compares. It's rarely what blows the budget.
Parking is the first one. Ours is a free outdoor carpark with no height restriction — one permit per room, subject to availability — so the wagon with boards on the roof is fine. Over four days on the Gold Coast, paid parking alone can cost more than a night's difference in room rate.
The second is how far you are from the sand. We're 200m from the north end of Burleigh Beach, straight down Sixth Avenue — about a two-minute walk, no highway crossing, North Burleigh SLSC patrolling that end. You can do a swim before breakfast and be back before the kids have found their thongs. No beach parking, no packing the car twice a day. See the rooms.
Leave the car parked
The Christine Avenue G:link stop is on our corner, which is the whole trick to an Easter weekend here. Trams run north to Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise, Southport and Helensvale, and south to Burleigh Heads — so the village, James Street and the headland are two stops away instead of a parking hunt. At Miami One, about 300m up the road, you can pick up route 700 along the length of the Gold Coast Highway, or route 777 straight to Gold Coast Airport in around 25 minutes.
All of it is a 50-cent flat fare per journey — tap on with a go card or a contactless card. A family of four getting to Surfers and back for four dollars is the sort of thing that makes an Easter budget work.
Book the big rooms early

None of that helps you if there's nothing left. Four public holidays and the first weekend of a 17-day school break is the busiest window we get outside Christmas, and there are only so many rooms here that sleep more than three. The interconnecting pair and the family rooms are usually gone months out. If Easter is the plan, ring before Christmas and get it locked in.
