New Zealand Gold Coast accommodation for families flying into Gold Coast Airport: we are in Miami, Queensland, doubles from $125, 200m to Burleigh Beach, free parking, and an outdoor pool. Theme-park days without Main Beach hotel prices. Confirm live rates when you book.

There is a video worth watching before you lock the flights. A family from Wellington brought their kids over, hit Movie World, Sea World and Wet'n'Wild, and filmed the trip. Thanks to Delightful Events in Wellington for sharing the clip.

Watch: a Gold Coast family holiday — theme parks, beaches, and the kind of running commentary only a kid can give.

New Zealand Gold Coast accommodation — fly into Gold Coast Airport

Gold Coast Airport (OOL) is the nearest international arrival — Coolangatta, south of us, not Brisbane. Direct flights run from Auckland year-round, Wellington on Jetstar, and Christchurch on Air New Zealand in the April–October season. Check the airline before you plan around Christchurch in summer; that route is not year-round.

December on the Gold Coast is summer. Pack for heat, sunscreen and a beach bag as well as park tickets.

By car we are about 15–20 minutes north of the airport on the Gold Coast Highway. Check maps from 1908–1910 Gold Coast Highway, Miami before you leave.

Without a car: bus 777 from Gold Coast Airport toward Stockland Burleigh Heads, then G:link north to the Christine Avenue stop on our corner. 50 cents a journey with a go card or contactless. Route 777 does not stop at Miami. If you fly into Brisbane instead, Airtrain to Helensvale, then G:link south to Christine Avenue — allow about two hours door to door.

G:link tram at the Christine Avenue stop outside Burleigh Gold Coast Motel in Miami, on the Gold Coast Highway.

What a motel is here

We are not a resort and not a hotel with a restaurant downstairs. A Queensland motel stay means a private ensuite room, the car (or the tram) at the building, a microwave and bar fridge in the room, and Aldi across the road for breakfast supplies. No room service. No lift — ground-floor rooms are triples only, on request. After-hours check-in can be arranged if you call ahead on (07) 5576 3211.

Children aged 6 and above are charged as adults. We do not supply cots or extra beds. No pets. Cards: Visa and Mastercard; no Amex.

The three big theme parks

Keep the park days. Distances and current park notes live on our theme park accommodation page — this post does not re-quote drive minutes.

Warner Bros. Movie World

Movie World is the film-studio park north of us via the M1 at Oxenford — DC, Looney Tunes, coasters and shows. Kids who know those films light up at the gate. Go at opening on holiday weeks.

Father and child watching sharks through the aquarium glass at Sea World Gold Coast, Main Beach.

Sea World

Sea World sits on The Spit at Main Beach. Marine life, Leviathan, kids’ zones and shows in one ticket. For a Sea World-first stay see our Sea World accommodation page. After-dark Carnivale nights, when they run, are on a separate post.

Yellow raft coming down a water slide at Wet'n'Wild Gold Coast, Oxenford.

Wet'n'Wild

Wet'n'Wild is next to Movie World at Oxenford. Wave pool, kids’ splash areas, and the big slides for older children. Pack a change of clothes. Check opening hours before you go — holiday days often run later.

Book tickets on the park sites before you fly. Multi-park passes are usually the better value. Sunscreen, water, and a 7am start beat a midday queue.

Rooms start from $125 per night. When you book direct at burleighmotel.com.au you pay no booking platform fees - the kind that add $20 to $40 per night on third party sites without adding anything to your stay. You also get flexible cancellation and direct contact with the property if your plans change.

For families travelling from New Zealand on a set holiday budget, that difference adds up fast across a week's stay. The money stays in your holiday, not with a booking platform.

Why families flying in stay in Miami

Main Beach hotels next to the parks cost more. You land at Gold Coast Airport, drive 15–20 minutes, park here for free (subject to availability, one permit per room), and wake up 200m from Burleigh Beach. Outdoor pool. 36 rooms from $125. We are family-run, 4.7★ on Google, and a Virgin Australia Where to Stay editorial pick for budget-friendly accommodation in Burleigh Heads — that award wording is an area label; the address suburb stays Miami.

Family rooms sleep 5 from $195. Interconnecting sleeps 5–6, two bathrooms, from $295. See all rooms.

Are there direct flights from New Zealand to Gold Coast Airport?
